How to make bottle guard kofta/ lauki k kofte:-

Bottle guard kofta is very famous in India. There are different type of  vegetarian kofta like paneer kofta, raw banana kofta, bottle guard kofta, malai kofta, cabbage kofta are very famous in India and people love to eat this. it is made from the grated bottle guard which is deeped in the spicy tomato based gravy. This is very awesome in taste and it is usually eaten with boiled rice, roti, chappati or butter naan. you can make this recipe on special occasion also. It is very easy to cook. so, lets get started for making recipe.

Bottle guard kofta


Ingredients:

Ingredients for making kofta:-
  • Bottle guard - 1 medium (grated)
  • Gram flour - 1/2 cup
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder - 1/2 tbsp
  • Salt as per taste
  • Garam masala powder - 1/2 tbsp
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1/2 tbsp
Ingredients for making gravy:-
  • Tomatoes - 3 (chopped)
  • Onion - 2 (chopped)
  • Oil - 3 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tbsp
  • Green chilli - 2 (chopped)
  • Ginger - 1 inch
  • Garlic - 4 to 5 cloves
  • Malai/cream - 1/2 cup
  • Water - 1 cup
  • Salt as per taste
  • fresh coriander leaves for garnishing
Directions:-

Method for making kofta:-

1. Firstly peel the cover of the bottle guard, wash and grate it.


2. In the next process, squeeze out the water completly from the bottle guard. You can use this stock in cooking or kneading the dough or in the gravy of the kofta also.

3. Now, in a bowl take grated bottle guard, add gram flour, add turmeric powder, garam masala powder, ginger garlic paste, red chilli powder and add salt as per taste.


4. Now, mix all ingredients well and don't use water in the mixture. If needed then you can add more gram flour.

5. Turn on the flame and heat oil in a pan. Once the oil is heated properly, then try to make kofta  from the mixture with the help of your palm in round shape and add koftas in the oil.

6. Cook kofta for 1 minute and turn the flame on medium heat and cook the kofta till it gets golden brown colour from both the sides.

7. Now, take out all the koftas from oil on the kitchen paper towel and keep it aside.



Method for making gravy:-

1. Firstly, take chopped tomato, add chopped onion, green chilli, ginger, garlic, garam masala powder and little amount of water. Blend all the ingredients together and make a smooth paste.

2. Heat oil in a pan, after 2 minutes when the oil gets properly heated then add cumin seeds.

3. Now, add tomato-onion paste, add turmeric powder, salt as per taste and fry till the oil  comes out from it.

4. After that, add Malai/cream into the tomato-onion paste and cook for 1 minute.

5. Now, add 1 cup of water in the gravy and simmer on the low flame for 5 to 7 minutes.

6. Further, add koftas in the gravy and cook for 2 minutes on medium flame.

7. Now, Bottle guard kofta is ready. Garnish with the fresh chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice, roti, paratha, butter naan or as of your choice, enjoy and share your experience with me.
