Poha/Beaten rice/Flattened rice dish
How to make Flattened Rice/Poha dish:-
Flattened rice is also known as poha. It is used to eat as snacks. In Maharashtra, poha is very famous, it is very easy to cook and very tasty, healthy dish mostly eat as a breakfast.
Ingredients for making poha:-
- Beaten rice or flattened rice(poha) - 2 cups
- Peanuts - 50 gm
- Onion - 1 medium (finely chopped)
- Green chilli - 2 (finely chopped)
- Tomatoes - 1 piece (finely chopped)
- Mustard seeds - 1 tbsp
- Refined oil - 3 tbsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tbsp
- Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
- Lemon juice - 3 tbsp
- Curry leaves - 8 to 10
- Salt as required
- garam masala powder - 1/2 tbsp
- water - 1 cup(for washing/soaking beaten rice)
- Sugar - 1 tbsp
- For garnishing - fresh coriander leaves(finely chopped) and onion(finely chopped)
Directions for making dish:-
1. Firstly, wash beaten rice for 2 minutes and keep aside.
2. Now, heat oil in a pan and add peanuts, saute till it gets golden brown colour. Now, take it out on a kitchen paper towel.
3.Further, add mustard seeds and it began to crackle then add curry leaves, add chopped onion, add chopped green chilli, keep stirring till the onion becomes translucent.
4. After that, add turmeric powder, add ginger garlic paste, add little garam masala powder for the better aroma, add salt as per taste, add chopped tomatoes and little sugar. If you don't like sugar then you can skip it. Now saute all the mixture till the tomatoes become soft and oil oozes out from it.
5. Now, add lemon juice, fried peanuts, washed poha and saute it for 2 to 3 minutes.
