How to make garlic rice:-

About recipe:-

 In India food is totally incomplete without using garlic in it. I always use garlic in my food because it has various properties which is good for our body. Garlic has many health benefits like it is useful in cold and flu, it is good for our hair and skin, it work as a blood purifier, it helps in curing cancer, lower the risk of heart attack and improves bone health etc. You can easily include eating garlic in your daily routine. Our today's recipe is also using lots of garlic. Garlic rice is mostly famous in north region of india. Garlic rice is mostly taken as a lunch with dal tadka or plain dal or dal palak or any bhaji. Garlic rice is very simple and easy to make with the regular ingredients available in your kitchen and it tastes very delicious🤤. I always used to make garlic rice on weekend because hubby love to  hot garlic rice with dal tadka made with lots of ghee. Here i will introduce 2 methods of cooking garlic rice. So, friends let's start making garlic rice.

Ingredients for making garlic rice:-

  • Basmati rice - 200 gm
  • Garlic - 10 to 12 (finely chopped)
  • Ghee - 2 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tbsp
  • Garlic - 10 to 12 cloves(finely chopped)
  • Cloves - 2 pieces
  • Star anise - 2 to 4 pieces
  • Lemon juice - 1 tbsp
  • Salt according to taste
  • Cinnamon - 2 pieces
  • Water - 1 cup
  • Coriander leaves - 2 to 4 tbsp(finely chopped)

Directions for making garlic rice:-


Method 1


1. Firstly, wash basmati rice with 2 or 3 times with water and pressure cook with 1 cup of water and lemon juice.

2. Now, turn off the flame and let  the cooker releasing all the air. 

3. Now, open the lid of pressure cooker and  transfer all the  cooked rice from cooker into a bowl and let it cool for some time.

4. After that, heat ghee in a pan, when ghee gets perfectly heated then add cumin seeds.

5. When cumin seeds began to crackle then add star anise, cinnamon, cloves and stir fry for 1/2 minute.

6. After that, add chopped garlic and saute on medium flame till it gets golden brown in colour.

7. Further, add cooked basmati rice, salt and mix with all ingredients and saute it for 2 minutes on medium flame.

8. Now, add chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with dal or bhaji.


Method 2

1. Firstly, wash basmati rice 2 or 3 times with water and drain all the water from it.
2.Turn on flame, heat ghee in a pressure cooker and when ghee gets perfectly heated then add cumin seeds.

3. When cumin seeds start crackle then add star anise, cinnamon, cloves and stir fry for 1/2 minute.

4. Further, add chopped garlic and saute on medium flame until it gets golden brown in colour.

5. Now, add washed basmati rice, lemon juice, salt according to taste and mix all the ingredients very well. Here we are using lemon juice because when we add lemon juice in rice then grains of rice will  not stick together.

6. Now, add 1 cup water and cover the lid of pressure cooker and cook rice on medium flame cooker gives one whistle.

7. Turn off the flame and let cooker releasing all the air. After that open the lid and add chopped coriander leaves and mix well.

8. Now, garlic rice is ready to eat, serve hot with dal or bhaji.
