Hello friends, i am Sonam and welcome you all in my cooking blog. Friends, today i am going to share a very popular dish which is eaten almost in all over India that is dal khichdi. Khichdi usually made from rice and moong dal and loaded with lots of vegetables which is very healthy for our body. Khichdi is very simple, light, quick and healthy dish as it takes only 30 minutes to cook from the regular ingredients which is easily available in your kitchen. Khichdi is always one of the best and first food choice for small babies because it is easy to digest, babies can easily digest it. when we fell sick doctors also advice us to eat khichdi, because it help us to recover from illness. Khichdi can be eaten as lunch or dinner and it takes very less time to prepare so you can easily make this recipe. when you want to eat some healthy and spicy, light dish then you can make this khichdi and enjoy it and it is best option for bachelors and working women because they don't have enough time to cook heavy dishes and in this situation they always prefer to make khichdi. Khichdi can be consumed with dahi(fresh yogurt), mango pickle(aanchar), papad and ghee. Khichdi is made in different ways and it can be made in only one pot and when we add ghee means it enhance the aroma and taste of khichdi and it becomes more tasty. So, friends please follow the instructions of making khichdi below and make your family happy. So, let's start making khichdi.

Ingridients for making dal khichdi:-
- Mix Dal - 50 gm
- Rice - 100 gm
- Cooking oil - 3 tbsp
- Cumin seeds - 1 tbsp
- Bay leaf - 1
- Hing(asafoetida) - 1 pinch
- Curry leaves - 8 to 10
- Onion - 1 medium (finely chopped)
- Green chilli - 2 (finely chopped)
- Green Capsicum - 1 (finely chopped)
- Tomato - 1 (finely chopped)
- Potato - 1 medium (diced)
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tbsp
- Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
- Salt as required
- Water - 1 cup
- Garam masala powder - 1 tbsp
- Ghee - 2 tbsp
- Dahi (fresh yogurt)
- Papad
- Mango pickle
- Fresh coriander leaves - 4 to 5 tbsp
Instructions for making dal khichdi recipe:-
1. First of all, wash dal and rice at least 3 to 4 times and drain all the water from it.
2. Then, turn on the flame and heat oil in a pressure cooker and when it gets perfectly heated then add cumin seeds into it.
3. When cumin seeds began to crackle then add bay leaf, hing(asafoetida),and stir fry it.
4. After that, add chopped onion, chopped green chilli, curry leaves and saute till the onion gets golden brown colour.
5. Now, add diced potato, chopped green capsicum and fry until the get soft.
6. Further, add chopped tomato, turmeric powder, ginger garlic paste, garam masala powder, salt and fry on medium flame until oil oozes out from it.
7. After that, add washed dal and rice and mix well with all the ingredients together and stir fry for 30 seconds on low flame.
8. Now, add water in pressure cooker, close the lid of cooker and cook on high flame until it gives two whistle.
9. Turn off the flame and let the pressure cooker release all the gas from it.
10. After that, open the lid of cooker and add finely chopped fresh coriander leaves and mix it well.
11. Now, pour khichdi on a serving plate, top with cow's pure ghee and serve with papad, yogurt(fresh dahi), mango pickle and enjoy.
Important Notes:-
1. Guys, you can add more vegetables of your choice in dal khichdi to make it more healthy and tasty.
2. Friends keep in mind that dal khichdi should not be too thin. So, add too much water into it.
