How to make palak puri/Palak poori:-

About recipe:-

Palak puri is a deep fried bread which is eaten as a breakfast or as a light meal. As we know spinach is very beneficial for our health because it has various properties like it is full of Iron, vitamins and minerals such as Potassium, Magnesium. It contains high amount of vitamin C, vitamin K, B6, B9 , E, Folic acid, Iron and Calcium. Palak puri is a healthy recipe as it contains the goodness of palak(spinach). Palak puri is delicious, simple and quick recipe which is made from the regular ingredients available in your kitchen and it takes very less amount of time to cook. So, let's start learning process of  cooking palak puri with step by step pics.


Palak puri

Ingredients for making Palak puri:-

➤ Whole wheat flour - 200 gm
➤ All purpose flour(maida) - 50 gm
➤ Carom seeds(ajwain) - 1/2 tbsp
➤ Refined oil - for deep fry
➤ Salt - 1/2 tbsp
➤ palak(spinach) - half bunch
➤ Green chilli - 1 (chopped)
➤ Ginger - 1 inch
➤ Garlic - 3 to 4 cloves
➤ Water - 1 cup

Directions for making palak puri:-

⧫ Firstly, wash and boil palak(spinach) with one cup of water for 2 minutes on medium flame.

⧫ Now, in mixer jar take boiled palak(spinach), green chilli, ginger, garlic and make a smooth paste(palak puree).

⧫ Further, take a bowl and add whole wheat flour, maida(all purpose flour), carom seeds(ajwain), salt, 2 tbsp refined oil, palak puree and mix it well.


⧫ With the help of water knead a soft dough, cover it and leave for 15 to 20 minutes.


⧫ Open the cover and make equal small balls.


⧫ Roll the balls on a board with the help of rolling pin in circle shape. The thickness of the puri should not be too thin.


⧫ Heat oil in a kadai with enough oil for frying the puris.


⧫ After 10 minutes add little bit of the dough into the oil to check the oil, if it is hot or not. If the dough rises up then the oil is ready for fry the puris.


⧫ Now carefully slide the puris into the oil. From the top side press the puri with your ladle and when it puffed up from the top then flip the puri and cook on the both side till it gets golden brown.





⧫ Now, take it out on a kitchen paper towel for absorbing excess oil.



⧫Now, Palak puri is ready to eat. Serve this hot mouth watering puffed puris with bhaji, gravy, sweet dishes as of your choice and enjoy with your family.
