pavbhaji
pavbhaji is an maharastrian food. It is very popular in Maharashtra and used to eat as breakfast and it is very easy to cook. Originating in Mumbai, pavbhaji was the working women's answer to a quick, spicy and satisfying meal. Today it is a popular roadside snack in India. 'Bhaji' is the Marathi and Hindi word for a vegetable preparation and this piquant version is eaten with 'Pav' soft rolls smothered with hot and salty butter. So, let's learn how to make this.
Ingredients for making pavbhaji:-
- potatoes - 200gm
- capsicum - 65gm
- cauliflower - 50gm
- green peas - 75gm
- refined oil - 4 tbsp
- onion -100gm (finely chopped)
- ginger garlic paste - 2 tbsp
- green chilli - 2 pieces (finely chopped)
- tomato puree - 150gm
- water - 2 cups
- pavbhaji masala - 3 tbsp
- butter - 3 tbsp
- salt as per taste
- chopped onion , coriander leaves and lemon for garnishing
- pav - 6 pieces
Method for making pavbhaji :-
1. first of all pressure cook potatoes, capsicum,cauliflower and green peas.
2.After that mash well all the vegetables together .
3. Then heat oil in a pan , add chopped onions, green chilli and ginger garlic paste. Saute it for 3 to 4 minutes till it gets golden brown.
4. Add tomato puree, peas and saute it for 3 to 4 minutes until oil oozes out.
5. Then add mashed vegetables and 3 tablespoon pavbhaji masala, 2 cups of water, salt as per taste and cook till the mixture gets thickens.
6. Place 3 tablespoon butter on the top of bhaji and garnish with the fresh coriander leaves , chopped onion and lemon. Heat pan and cook pav with butter from both the side, serve hot and enjoy.
